Quiet support for the work that matters.

The MILD Foundation funds grass-roots projects with demonstrable impact in Health, Education and Stewardship — and aims to become a sustaining partner to the charities we work with.

About the foundation

The MILD Foundation is a charitable trust that supports community-rooted organisations whose work strengthens people, places and the natural world. We look for projects that reach those who are not well served by existing funding, and that take a thoughtful, long-term view.

We prefer to begin with a single, well-defined project. A focused first engagement lets us understand the work, build trust, and assess the long-term working relationship between the charity and the foundation. Where it goes well, our preference is to continue.

Where we give

Our giving sits in three areas. Within each, we look for projects that reach underserved groups and that will continue to deliver value beyond the period of the grant.

H

Health

Programs that improve health outcomes for underserved communities — preventative care, mental health, access to services, and frontline community health initiatives.

E

Education

Initiatives that expand opportunity for children and adults facing structural barriers — literacy, school engagement, vocational training and pathways into further study.

S

Stewardship

Projects that protect the environment and conserve cultural heritage — ecological restoration, biodiversity, traditional knowledge and the preservation of historic places.

How to apply

The MILD Foundation only accepts formal proposals. Each one is read and assessed by the foundation's Gifting Officer. Proposals can be sent at any time — there is no fixed deadline.

  • Funding required. The total amount, a brief budget, and the period covered.
  • Project goals. The outcomes the project will deliver and how success will be measured.
  • Project Impact Statement. The change you will make, who benefits, and how it lasts.
